BUPC to hold public meeting in Nandigram on Monday

Nandigram (PTI): After CPI-M's recapture of Nandigram a fortnight ago, Trinamool Congress-backed Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee is gearing up to hold a public meeting on December in a show of strength in the area.
"We have called a public meeting at Nandigram College ground where CPI(M) had held their meeting today. All BUPC leaders will be present," Trinamool Congress leader Shubhendu Adhikari said here on wednesday.
He alleged many BUPC supporters, who had returned to their villages, were harrassed and intimidated by the police and forced to return to refugee camp.
Adhikari, MLA from Contai South constituency in East Midnapore district, also claimed family members of 13 of the 14 persons who were killed on March 14 police firing and violence were provided shelter by him besides 11 rape victims.
"We will not allow the CPI(M) to tamper with evidence," he said.
He said those still at the camp in Brajalal Tewary school were shifted to an adjacent hostel building to enable it to function.
Meanwhile, CRPF DIG Alok Raj said the central forces were regularly undertaking route march to instil confidence among the people.
